AAJA Portland is excited to provide a free media access workshop for attendees, community organizations, vendors and others taking part in Legendary Makers Market III: An Asian American Festival.
The workshop will take place from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, July 13, in The Lab at the Patricia Reser Center for the Arts, 12625 S.W. Crescent St., Beaverton. The workshop is among several panels scheduled for the two-day event, organized by the nonprofit Asian American Town.
What to expect:
A panel of local Asian American journalists will share insights and tips for contacting and building relationships with journalists; requesting media coverage; and writing press releases, letters to the editor and opinion pieces.
The four panelists are:

Elizabeth Dinh, KOIN TV anchor/reporter and an AAJA Portland board member

Joanna Hou, Willamette Week reporter

Donald Orr, OPB announcer and producer

Helen Jung, The Oregonian/OregonLive opinion editor
Following the panel, the audience will have the opportunity to ask questions and join a conversation about local media coverage of Asian American communities, topics and issues.

Amy Wang, an AAJA Portland board member, will moderate the workshop.
